The Melbourne Sporting Partnership a multi-sport community hub in South Derbyshire. This includes a pavilion, club room and facilities to support participation in football, cricket and rugby union; a 3rd Generation Artificial grass pitch; 3 floodlit tennis courts (also suitable for netball) and car parking.
The Melbourne Sporting Partnership (MSP) was established in 2005 to bring together interested parties and drive improvements to the recreation site at Cockshut Lane, Melbourne. The Partnership includes local sports clubs, Melbourne Parish Council and South Derbyshire District Council.
The Melbourne Parish Plan and a Pleydell Smithyman Feasibility Study identified a need for additional sporting and recreational facilities in Melbourne, naming Cockshut Lane as the site with the potential to address this. Consultation with clubs in January 2011 identified that having poor facilities was preventing them from expanding their membership also suggesting local people had moved to other clubs who offered better facilities.
